The Best Place to Survive the Apocalypse
I get a lot of questions in my inbox-
“Where’s the best place to survive the apocalypse?”
“Which kind of ammo should I load up on?”
“Why am I getting these weird rashes on my _______?”
Since I can only answer one at a time, I’ll choose the first one. The second questions would be based on opinions and the third question just gets gross.
That said; let’s look at a few options on where you can try to survive the upcoming apocalypse.
The Desert- Southwest United States, northern Africa, Sahara, etc.
Ah, the good ol’ desert. Lots of dead animals, plants, and dried up river beds. What could be better, right?
Yeah…. I won’t go too much into this. Basically- these are not areas where you want to stay for long UNLESS you find some kind of oasis. The lack of shelter, good food, and clean water won’t take long to kill ya.
Have people survived in the desert for thousands of years? Yeah- but they knew what they were doing. You don’t.
Besides- there are much nicer places to go.
Dense, Humid Forests- Southeast US, Central America, etc.
I wouldn’t say that this is the best place to survive the apocalypse, but it’s a step closer than the desert.
These areas will have a lot more things to make life easier (and more enjoyable). Clean, running water is often found here. Plenty of animals for you to turn into Fido or your next dinner. When it gets too hot, you can hang out under the shade of trees and jump into the pond, river, lake, etc.
There are a few downsides, however. There will be more creatures here that see you as lunch. The humidity will also cause you to sweat no matter WHAT you’re doing. Believe me, I grew up in Georgia. *shudders*
You’ll also be dealing with a LOT more bugs than you ever did in the desert. Mosquitoes, roaches, mosquitoes, ants, mosquitoes, scorpions, mosquitoes, and spiders to name a few.
Oh, and probably mosquitoes.
Bottom line- this area is pretty good, but wouldn’t be my top choice.
Dry, Mountain Forests- Northern California, Colorado, Northern Idaho, etc.
In my humble opinion, these locations are the cream of the crop. I know there are plenty of other places I didn’t talk about- the Antarctic, islands along the equator, etc., but this is honestly going to be your best bet.
Why?
For one thing, you’ll have fertile soil for crops. You’ll have tons of animals nearby to munch on. Lakes and rivers will be cold, meaning fewer bugs, healthier fish, and refreshing swimming.
Because the air isn’t humid, you won’t see NEARLY as many bugs. You also won’t sweat just for thinking about something. I’ve spent a lot of time in these areas, and I don’t feel sweat unless I’m working really hard at something.
You’ll never get too hot or too cold. Dressing properly will be important, but not nearly as important as it would be for desert or tundra reasons.
Conclusion
So there you have it. Again, I know that I didn’t cover every location on the map- sue me. There really aren’t that many different kinds of environments out there- you just have to pick which would be your favorite and research which countries/regions are like that.
Personally- when the !#(@* hits the fan, I’m heading to northern Cali. I think it’s the best place to survive the apocalypse, so you’ll see me there.
Oh yeah- and get those rashes checked out.
